On March 28, Nader Akil (EU Business Operations Manager at PNO Innovation Belgium) participated on behalf of the SUPREEMO Horizon Europe Project at the REIA – The Global Rare Earth Industry Association – REEsilience Conference to discuss about innovation in rare earths.
Key experts will address the challenges and provide key ideas to overcome the bottlenecks to developing a sustainable and resilient rare-earth value chain.
Context
The rare-earth industry has seen various innovations in recent years, primarily focused on sustainable extraction, recycling methods, and substitution and material development, government policies and investments, collaborative efforts, and partnerships. Continued research in material science and manufacturing techniques is likely to lead to further innovations in permanent-magnet technology, enabling new and improved applications across various industries. Researchers are continuously exploring new magnetic alloys and composite materials to enhance the magnetic properties, temperature stability, corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength of permanent magnets.
